It’s humid; I breathe water instead of air. The sky shudders, tries to speak. I think this is called dramatic irony but I can’t be sure.
I don’t as much hear footsteps behind me as I feel the leaves rustle.
“Hey,” he says.
I don’t respond. He sits down next to me.
“You gonna talk to me?” I can’t see him, but I know he’s reaching for a cigarette in his pocket. Seconds later it is lit.
